A look at the PWS workshop tutored by Paul Kemp in 2019

Paul showed us some of the artistic effects that could be had when using tissue paper.

Firstly, the edges of the paper were taped off with masking tape, so that there would be a pleasing 'framed' effect with the final product.

Then the tissue paper was also taped onto one of the shorter edges of the paper, so that the tissue could be held away from the surface of the paper. Then a light watery wash was applied, with other colours added whilst wet - in roughly the areas that were appropriate for the finished work. The tissue paper was put down, and left to dry.

The tissue paper was taken away, and the paint considered to be mostly a background, so that finer details, usually darker, could be added.
