A look at Gill Cairn's workshop of May 2019



Gill showed us a technique that could be used with remarkable effect in line and wash painting.

It was to use a permanent marker type drawing pen to lay down lines and curves, and with a damp brush - to draw out the ink before it had dried. This could be done at that stage, and when dry the 'smudged' ink was relatively permanent. Watercolour washes could then be laid down over these marks. We were encouraged to try landscapes, and some of the results are shown....
